Nowadays inflatable toys are more and more popular in the world. Theme parks, playgrounds and even holiday celebrations or wedding and opening ceremonies are filled with inflatable slides, castles, bouncers, games, dancers and cartoons. But have you ever thought the origin of inflatable toys?
Fortunately, nobody knows which country is the hometown of inflatable. However, the origin of inflatable can trace back to the 880 BC according to Guinness Book of motor boating. When the Assyrian king Ashurnasirpal II ordered his troops to cross a river by using greased animal skins which they inflated continuously to keep the vessels afloat. But inflatable as entertainment appeared much later. It is said that inflatable started with the massive cartoons manufactured from American. Due to the cute images of these cartoons, once these inflatable products are launched in market, they became the favorites of kids. Simultaneously, wise advertising agents noticed this phenomenon immediately. Tomsen is the founder of inflatable toys. In the beginning, Tomsen just demanded worker animated cartoon “Donald duck And Mickey Mouse” to make some inflatable cartoon. Without exception these inflatable cartoons are fond of very much by kids. And the American Disneyland is the creative work by Tomsen.
However, almost every inflatable toy has its own origin. And some of them are always controversial topic. For example, the inflatable moonwalk are said to be firstly manufactured by John Scurlock in 1962. He noticed that employees had fun to jump and bounce on the inflatable. Then Scurlock decided to create a kid’s amusement bouncer and started the first inflatable moonwalk business, Space Walk. At that time, the devices were referred to as Moon Walks, although many different terms to describe them have since come into use. While others hold that a bouncy castle (also known as an inflatable castle or, in the US, a moonwalk) are originally designed by a university students in England around 1961 for fundraising event. Bouncy castles are now available not only in castle shapes, but also in many others including popular cartoon, movie and children’s’ book characters. New variations on the general design have resulted in inflatable slides, interactive games and climbing walls.
Maybe the origin of inflatable toys is full of disputes. Whereas the endless fun from inflatable toys to kids is completely out of suspicion. Kids’ blazing love to inflatable toy including inflatable slides, bouncer , castles and cartoons exceed our imagination. Since kids are just like free angles enjoying themselves in these inflatable toys.
